picture #6

Sunrise breaks over the Pacific Rim National Park
on Vancouver Island, British Columbia in Canada shortly before 7:00 a.m. as the USS New Jersey heads through Canadian waters to Juliette Buoy, the sea mark for the convergence of the Pacific Ocean and the entry to the Strait od Juan de Fuca.

picture #7

BB-62 points toward the U.S. Northwest coast as the mountains of Vancouver, British Columbia in the background offer a striking contrast to the open, limitless Pacific Ocean to New Jersey's West. To her east is Washington state's Cape Flattery and the Makah Indian reservation, a tip of the state which is the Northwestern-most point of land in the continental United States.
