For
the first morning since we departed from Bremerton 46
hours ago, the skies have turned to
a low, overcast gray. USS New Jersey's own battleship gray, which hid her from easy
recognition through many high-seas engagements, blends in neatly with today's
background. Presently, she is about 50 miles due West of the Columbia River,
separating the states of Washington and Oregon.
