memorial. For those who enjoy a good detective story, The Kissing
Sailor: The Mystery Behind the Photo That Ended World War II ($23.99)
is certain to please. Authors Lawrence Verria and George Galdorisi
through extensive research solve the decades old mystery of the true
identity of the sailor and nurse who kissed the war good-by in Alfred
Eisenstaedt’s iconic photo, V-J Day, 1945, Times Square. As an added
bonus, the book is autographed by George Mendonsa, THE Kissing Sailor.
